Patricia Rose
Vice President of the Clay Guild of the Eastern Shore

Patricia is a multi-disciplinary artist and teacher across the Eastern Shore. Originally from Southern Maryland, Patricia moved to the eastern shore in 2010 to attend university and now resides in Deal Island, Maryland. It was during her studies at Salisbury University (Music, B.A. & B.A. 3-D Studio Arts) Patricia was inspired to pursue pottery by her first ceramics professor, fellow guild member, and friend Karen Bearman. While at SU, Patricia was fortunate to meet and work so closely alongside fellow potters Robbie Johnson and Sarah Halcott who helped her continuously develop her skills and confidence as a ceramic artist. It was Karen who encouraged and ultimately facilitated Patricia’s understanding of her own aesthetic: her work in clay is self-evident, honest. The mark of the hand in something that was once soft, the movement of the material as it folds over itself, the construction of form where two ends meet, these characteristics need no explanation, yet they beg to be experienced by the hand and the eye. It is the aim of Patricia’s work to spark interest and adoration for the mundane, engage our senses, and amplify each individual's intimate relationship with their everyday surroundings.
