Clay Guild Minutes

  • Call to Order at 12:13 


  • Membership 
  • Will collect any dues 
  • Thomas would like membership for he and Ashley in trade for money owed.  


  • Naked Raku Workshop with Ray Bogle
  • Date will be July 16th, 9am-5pm at Salisbury University in Ceramics room/ 
  • participants will pay $25 to take the work shop
  • Space for 12 students in workshop portion 
  •     Signed up so far: Florence, Robbie, Mary Back 
  • space for up to 5 observers for the demo and lecture portion of workshop at a cost of $10 per person
  • we will finish up to 3 pieces per person 
  • handouts with process details and glaze/slip recipes will be given to all students
  • pots should be burnished and or terra sig’d, then biscuit fired to cone 010-06 
  • closed forms work best like bottles, vases
  • NO TEXTURE
  • Workshop will be from 9-5,  please bring or plan on acquiring lunch during the day 
  • sign up will be first come first serve.
  • July 9th - Preworkshop Terra- sig at SU 12pm - 1 pm (have piece bone dry and burnished) 




  • Clay-a-Palooza - May 20th 3 pm 
  • Sarah Will email with final location
  • pottery pong- need volunteers 
  • Need Pottery for donation for pottery pong, bring on 3rd Friday or drop off with Sarah ahead of time. 
  • Life is a Zoo - Joy  & Vicki
  • Dott will be doing demonstrations, Bob will be selling work 
  • Cheryl & Florence Membership and info table
  • Throw Down- Jeff, Sarah,  Rob can judge 
  • Will ask more people for volunteers and send out Email request 
  • Still need participants and volunteers !!!!
  • Rob - Have the post cards printed for clay guid show by May 20th 
  • AI&G Open Studio
  • Fees are set 
  • cleanup is underway
  • air cleaner is in place 
  • would like help with start up costs benefits could be given directly to students
  • Clay guild is considering donating $500 scholarship fund to offset initial price for students to offset first 30 
  • There's a position for a paid studio tech that will be available 
  •     Motion to donate $150 to match donation from Ed DeLuca to pay tech for first 20 hours in the studio 
  •     Motion passed, all in favor 
  • The guild would like to see the first 10 or 15 hours of the tech go to setting up the studio.  


  • Clay Guild has been offered a table at Beer Fest/ River Walk June 19th  event runs from 1-4 pm,  AI&G (free to promote classes) 
  • 10x10 is $30 for individuals 
  • AI&G is in charge of the craft vendors area


  • Next Meeting
June 11th at noon at Salisbury University Ceramics Room
