Marie A. Cavallaro
Professor of Art Emerita, Salisbury University, Salisbury, MD. and President and cofounder of the Cavallaro & Cleary Visual Art Foundation (www.ccartfoundation.org)
A Ceramic and Sculpture Artist who, in her own words, "Treats clay as her canvas."
Clay is my choice of medium for creating a diary. Most of my art is created from travel memories recorded in sketches and photos and then transformed into 3-D clay sculptures. The utilitarian art often reflect the environment which surrounds me - ocean, beach, flowers or an autumn experience in up-state New York. A limited use of colored glazes allows the clay to reveal its own color.
Color is decoration; form is the truth.
