My background is in ceramics, applied design, and printmaking.  Over the years I have experimented with various techniques and styles.  While living in Africa I was fortunate to spend time in Zimbabwe and Ethiopia where I worked with women potters who used contemporary and indigenous methods to create and fire their work.  These experiences have lead me to an appreciation of the organic simplicity of wood fired, functional pieces and to asymmetry in both form and glaze.

I am drawn to the unpredictable results of how the flame touches each pot differently with flashing, deposits of ash creating texture, and colors created by the absence of oxygen. Each pot, each kiln, and each firing is unique.
